We had a very nice stay in the prior guest house, which is a warm and pleasant place with an exceptional bathroom in the upper floor. The basement room turned out to be a huge apartment. A friendly and team of mother and son. We can highly recommend this place.

Unique! - Rating 5/5
A pleasent stay in a unique, locally run, guest house.Grace, our host, was exceptional! Warm, kind, polite, and a real pleasent conversationalist with a great reccomendation for dinner.Room was small, but that is to be expected in a traditional European building. Bathroom was accommodating, shower was tight, but manageable. Water pressure was awesome! Hot was hot (not luke-warm) and cold was cold.Twin beds were comfortable. Continental breakfast was prearranged in our room the night before and there was a plethora of options including fresh fruit, toast, croissants, cereals, milk, juice, tea and coffee. If your looking for extravagant, not gonna be your kind of place. BUT, if you're into supporting local businesses, as well as looking for a real feel for life in Dover, No. 7 Priory Guest House is it.Thank you for everything Grace!

No. 7 Priory Guest House - Rating 3/5
We very much enjoyed our stay in this nice guest house in the middle of Dover. Grace was a lovely host who made us feel right at home, and she made us a delicious and elaborate continental breakfast. There is a space to park your car and in case it is taken there is a very cheap car park right next door. The spacious rooms (we were a party of three in two rooms) had comfortable beds, nice bathrooms (although the pressure in the shower in the master bedroom was low) , hot drinks in the room and tv and wifi. The rooms were a bit outdated, but very clean and tidy. A good place to stay for a short stay.

Grace was an absolutely fantastic host during our stay. From helping with our parking, making us feel at home to a glimpse into Zimbabwe culture. She made her home town pancakes for us which was a real treat ! Room was cosy, breakfast was sumptuous and best of all, company was delightful. I would not hesitate to stay with Grace if I’m ever back in Dover.

This guest house was better than I expected. The bed was big and comfortable. The location was also good because it was close from the railway station and the Dover beach. I walked to the Dover castle as well. Above all the host is very nice and the breakfast was simple but good enough. I enjoyed it. Thank you for making me have good memories in Dover. Don\'t pass this up! - Rating 5/5
We were lucky enough to be passing through Dover, (coming in by train and out by Ferry) and wanted to stay the night somewhere close enough to walk to once arriving. We came across 'No. 7 Priory Guest House' and the location was perfect. But Grace was the real gift. Her hospitality is of the kindest and highest of standards we have experienced as full-time travelers in a long time. Guiding us as to which room would work best for us, making sure we had a cab early the next morning, recommending 'La Scala' for dinner (which should not be missed), making us a breakfast fit for a king and joining us in some great conversation. The room and bath were huge and very comfortable. After arriving and meeting Grace we were just sorry we only had 1 night to stay, a mistake we won't make again. On our next trip, we will definitely stay longer. Thank you Grace!

Good apartment but a bit claustrophobic - Rating 4/5
We stayed in the basement apartment which comprises a bedroom at the front, a middle room with sofa and chaise longue, a bathroom, and a rear room with dining table. All facilities were fine, but there was so much furniture including two large deep sofas, that it restricted easy movement around the apartment and we felt rather claustrophobic. The landlady was very obliging, caring and attentive.

Little gem- Rating 4/5
Excellent choice for overnight stay to get early ferry as conveniently located , also very near train station. Nicely appointed large bedroom and bathroom latter containing everything traveller might need, for good value price and much more character than a similar price hotel. Lady who runs it couldn't be nicer, lovely person, and makes a really lovely breakfast to order. Central location does mean it's a bit noisy outside on a weekend night with young people out enjoying themselves and cars going by, but a price worth paying for the convenience for transport links. Worth asking for a room at the back where quieter if available. Recommend.

Nicely decorated , quiet and comfortable rooms, freshly cooked breakfast served on a big table where other guests may join so it feels more like staying over at a friend than been a guest. Grace, as hostess, just adds to the charm. Busy street, but central.

Visiting Dover - Rating 4/5
I enjoy Bed and Breakfast places because one gets to get a glimpse of how the people in that area live and one can ask about local sites to see, and find out more about an area. This place was quite centrally located, and allowed us to walk to a number of places. It was a couple of blocks from the base of the hill to get to the top where Dover Castle was.It was an easy drive to that. The home was comfortable, quaint, and Grace served a very nice breakfast.I had an omelette, fruit, and toast. All very nice.

friendly B&B - Rating 4/5
The lovely lady, Grace, who runs this B&B, was very helpful. My friend and I both enjoyed our short break en route to France. There was overnight parking both across the road and behind the house. Good cooked breakfast and a lovely large pot of very nice coffee after a good night's sleep.

No 7 Priory house is ideally located with easy access to the Cliffs and Castles (one of which is a lesser known spot we wouldn't have any clue about had Grace told us!), local restaurants, and Dover Priory. The House is gorgeous and welcoming, and our host, Grace, an absolute delight. Thank you again! We will be sure to return on our next visit to Dover.

Really friendly welcome in the very centre of Dover. Breakfast according to your wishes british or continental. Extremely clean - all you need in a three-day-staying at Dover. For big people may the room be a little too small, but no problem for average shaped residents. Ideal startingpoint to visit the castle or the museum - sorry, that Roman House was closed. Would stay again here if possible.

Thank you for your review. Regrettably a town centre location such as ours, lends itself to the busy roads and the activity this brings. The description of the room on booking.com states that : This room is located in the lower ground floor with a four step access to the front which faces the main road. Often this is missed with the regrettable consequences of an uncomfortable night. I wish you had mentioned this upon checking in as this would have given me the opportunity to source alternative accommodation for you, away from the town centre. I would much rather have a happy guest than one who is unhappy. Not sure I understand the title, landlady far ahead from the facility? Thank you

Host Grace was fabulous and served an excellent breakfast each morning. Apartment is centrally locatef being close to station and town centre.Main issue for us was a room smaller than expected which together with the cramped showermade room only bearable. We choose the B&B for one night as our 1st stay in Uk before we started our 3 weeks roundtrip. We have been in 6 other B&B houses in south England on this trip, but what we experienced every time is that the breakfast at the priory 7 was the best on the whole trip.Room was ok for one night, only the night was a bit noisy from the street, but this was compensated by the central location of the house.

Too many stairs in the house, we were at the very top, no mention of this in blurb, warm enough, nice breakfast
Response
We are sorry that your stay with us was not as comfortable as expected. We try to be as accurate as possible in stating our location and that of our rooms. Our town centre location lends itself to being in a very busy area. Also your room of choice was on the second floor of the guesthouse, hence the \'too many stairs\' to the room. The location of this room is clearly stated on the booking.com site as being the quieter room facing the back , on the second floor, to enable guests to make an informed choice about which floor they prefer to use. As such I feel that your rating and comments are unfair as these could have been avoided had you paid attention to the property description before making your reservation.

Comfortable guest house, warm and welcoming host - Rating 5/5
When I read reviews of No. 7 Priory Guest House, many people specifically mentioned how much they liked Grace, the owner. I have to second that emotion. Her house is lovely and comfortable, and it's very conveniently located for walks to the beach and to Dover Castle, which were the purpose of our visit. But we did not expect to have such a lovely time visiting with Grace, and her full English breakfasts were the best breakfasts we had during a 2-week stay in the U.K. (Her prices are great, too.) If you're going to Dover, cross your fingers and hope that she has an available room for you.

We (Myself & my 16 yr old son) stayed for 1 night as we were travelling back to Spain so needed to catch the early ferry next day. Upon entering the premises, we were warmly welcomed & shown to our immaculate twin room. The bed linen was crisp & fresh & the ensuite bathroom was immaculate & included full size shampoo/conditioner & shower gels. There was toothpaste, earbuds & even make up remover pads....the little things that make a lasting impression! We slept well & at 7am next morning went down for our cooked breakfast.....well, oh my god there was so much on offer for us! Cereal, toast with jams or honey etc, a bowl of fresh chopped fruit too! We ate a hearty breakfast of Bacon, sausages, fresh cherry tomatoes, hash brown, huge mushroom, egg & beans!! I am totally delighted to have found this little gem of a place. We will be back :-)Thank you for going the extra mile with the 'little things'...they really make a difference x

was a lovely stay - Grace received us with concern, and took the care to move us tobigger room, as there was still a lingering smell of paint in the one we'd booked. We'd asked for a different breakfast [porridge / muesli] as we were down in dover to run a race, and very kindly accomodated our wishes. The rooms were nice and thoughtful, and it was well located in the centre of town.

The owner was really kind and helpful, paying attention to every detail. The location is great and although close to the road, I didn't find it noisy at all. We used this B&B because of location as we were using the ferry the following day. Our room was possibly best suited to a double bed as access to the very small shower room was tight with 2 single beds in it. We arrived late, got a very warm welcome from the landlady and a very nice and quiet room. Everything needed was there. The center of old Dover in short walking distance allowed us still at a late time to take a stroll to the promenade and eat in a nice Italian downtown restaurant. We stayed 3 nights at the No. 7 Priory Guest House and felt right at home from the moment we walked in the door. Our room was the superior double suite at the front of the house. The room was very spacious, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a dream with a claw-footed tub in the middle of the room.Everything was spotless and the room smelled fresh and clean without being overbearing.Breakfast was more than you could ever wish for, cooked by Grace with love that you could taste in every bite!In my opinion though, the best part of staying here is Grace herself. You will come as a stranger but leave as a friend. I enjoyed her breakfast that much more because it gave me the opportunity to talk to her.The location is great, a short walk through the pedestrian zone will bring you to the harbor. Even Dover Castle is within walking distance, although the walk is not for the faint-hearted! However, once you've eaten one of Grace's delicious breakfasts, you're ready for anything. :-)To sum it up, I would not hesitate to recommend this guest house to anyone. You will have a pleasant and comfortable stay with a most delightful hostess.

Very lovely stay - Rating 5/5
Grace is great!!There is no question that she cannot answer and no problem she cannot solve. My children are vegetarians and she made a lot of effort to please them with a fruit salade. They are still talking about it.The room was very good, it was a very warm day so we opended the windows. There is some trafficnoise, but that is one of the things you get when you stay in downtown Dover.Again, Grace is wunderfull, she will go trhough a lot of trouble to please her guests.Thank you Grace.

A decent stay - Rating 4/5
A smile and a welcome, a large room, a really lovely bathroom and an excellent breakfast. Good to have free parking and decent wi-fi on offer as well. Only downside, it happened to be a warm night so the window had to be open which left us with the noise from a rather busy road that woke us up a couple of times. Not the end of the world though and would still recommend this guest house.

Thank-you Grace - Rating 5/5
Our recent stay at No. 7 Priory was exceptional. Grace is a charming host who provided everything we needed in a very friendly, helpful manner. Breakfast was a great way to start the day.The comfy beds were a great way to end the day. The rooms were spacious enough for all of our luggage and the free wifi was much appreciated. The proximity of the guest house to both the railway station and to town was so convenient and perfect for visitors from Australia who didn't know their way around Dover.Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay with a generous, lovely host. Thank you very much, Grace.

Great place, Grace was extremely helpful and arranged an appointment with a local osteopath for my mum at 10 minutes notice.Breakfast of fresh fruit was delicious. In short, nothing was too much trouble and Grace's house was spick and span clean.I have absolutely no reservations in recommending No 7 Priory. One thing to note - there are a few steps to the front door and then on to the bedrooms but this isn't a problem if you are "mobile".

A lovely experience - Rating 5/5
After booking No 7 Priory Guesthouse at the last minute I was delighted with our stay. The guesthouse is located centrally with safe off-street parking and easy access to all that Dover and the surrounding area has to offer. We stayed in the downstairs flat which was lovely, spacious and very private. The breakfast was superb and Grace catered for my dietary needs expertly. I can highly recommend this guesthouse for both the accommodation and the warm hospitality which Grace provides.

On way to France - Rating 4/5
Just right for a one night stay without breakfast for a family of five on our way to France (£105). Sadly only got to spend the evening as traffic on way so bad, so didn't get to enjoy anything of Dover. The owner waited up for our arrival with a tray to make hot drinks with snacks, and was also up early to say goodbye, so a nice touch.

Lovely and Convenient - Rating 5/5
Set in a row house in the heart of downtown Dover, I found this guest house both lovely and convenient in many ways. The house was updated with beautiful and comfortable furnishings, and really beautiful artwork. But better than all that was the hospitality s gown by the operator Grace. She was extremely accommodating and took special time to make sure we saw some special sites nearby.I highly recommend No.7 Priory Guest House, and how to return some day when I have more time to spend.

Bacon, sausages,Champions, tomates and more and more, wonderful You can on for the whole day.Included is parking in the backyard. Go for no.7 next time you visit the interesting town of Dover.

Wecoming and friendly - Rating 5/5
The Priory Guest house is a lovely place, situated right on the main shopping area of Dover. I had the basement area, with a large well turned out room with access to the main street, and also a seperate bathroom just off a small lounge which had access to the parking area. Grace was very welcoming, but not intrusive, cooked a lovely breakfast and emailed me to offer to post back a phone charger and pyjama bottoms which I had left by mistake! Despite being next to a busy road there was very little noise - i stay in a variety of hotels on my travels, but without a doubt this was one of the best :)

Two single females - Rating 5/5
From the moment we walked into the B and B Grace could not do enough for us. She assisted us with our cases and then showed us our room which we found very comfortable, and extremely clean with everything we required. BreakfaST was GORGEOUS and Grace even allowed us to stay later than checkout time as she knew we were going on a cruise which did not go till later that afternoon so we were really appreciative. the location is so central that you only have to cross the road and you are on the main shopping street where you can fnd somewhere to eat or drink. All in all a fab B and B and we will be using it again when we visit Dover.

An oasis in Dover - Rating 5/5
I was working on site in Dover during 2010 and upto June 2011, I usually stayed elsewhere however this time, in 2012, I found number 7 Priory and I wished it had been there earlier. The Georgian terrace house is so easy to find from the station, although on a busy road then noise was not an issue. The house is tastefully decorated and spotless. The breakfast was gourmet standard with high quality ingredients.Grace is fantastic and is a great conversationalist. As someone who stays away on business at least 2 nights a week, staying in B&B's and everything upto 5* hotels then I can honestly say that Number 7 is on my places to stay list when in the SE of Kent. Usually I don't sleep very well on the first night in a hotel but I sleep like a log as the bed was so comfortable and the crisp cotton sheets made it perfect.Book it and enjoy the yourself.
